Background

KarloCompare.com.pk was launched by Sumair Farooqui and Ali Ladhubhai, ex bankers who previously worked at United Bank Limited (UBL) and HSBC respectively. Prior to that, Sumair Farooqui was the VP and Unit lead for the Wealth Management and Investment Products line of business at UBL, and Ali Ladhubhai was at HSBC in branch banking leading the main branch operations.

Farooqui left UBL to help a leading international personal finance comparison operator from Asia to set up their business for the Pakistani market; the international operator chose not to pursue the market opportunity at last moment due to a shift in overall strategy. Upon the international comparison platform exiting Pakistan, Farooqui chose to continue the opportunity on his own.

Ladhubhai had left HSBC subsequent to its acquisition by Mezaan Bank Limited to set up a travel aggregation platform for the Pakistani market.

The two had known each other previously, and teamed up to launch the personal comparison platform.
