History
Get Licensed was founded in 2007 by Madiha Adil and Shahzad Ali, who are married. Ali came up with the idea when he realised how difficult it was for attendees to find a reliable and cost-effective training provider for SIA licence training. The small training suppliers lacked the right technology and digital marketing skills to plan, manage and promote their courses.

Controversy
In November 2012, an allegation was made against a UK-based training provider that had used Get Licensed to advertise their courses as well as the organisation itself for courses it has ran. The allegation surrounded the required ratio of students to teachers (12 to 1) exceeding course requirements, which commenced between late 2010 and early 2011. The Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) withdrew a number of qualifications that had been provided by their sub-contractor. Get Licensed confirmed in an interview that it only operates as a marketing and advertising website, any training provider approved to run courses can list their courses on Get Licensed confirmed in an interview.
Get Licensed was transparent in acknowledging that a serious breach occurred by a training provider listed on their website and responded by terminating the training provider facilitating the re-training of 654 candidates affected by the alleged malpractice free of cost under their training guarantee scheme. The provider (Adult Learning Network) later voluntarily cancelled its approval from HABC before it could be officially withdrawn by the board.
